Cook Mode

Screen stays on. Step through your recipe hands-free with temperatures and timers highlighted automatically.

Import anything.

Paste any recipe URL, or batch-import your entire Recipe Keeper or Paprika library as a ZIP in one step.

Nutrition, automatic.

USDA-sourced calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber and sodium — per serving, scaled to your exact quantities.

Filter by anything.

AI assigns meal type, cuisine, difficulty, and dietary flags on import. Add your own tags on top. One tap to filter.

Scale any recipe.

Double the batch or halve it. Non-linear ingredients like baking soda and yeast get a warning so you don't over-leaven.

Frequently asked

Everything you need to know before downloading.

How much does Roux cost?
Roux is a one-time purchase on the App Store — no subscriptions, no in-app purchases. Buy once, own it forever.
Does Roux require an account?
No account is required for the core app. Recipe import, AI enrichment, Cook Mode, unit conversion, and nutrition all work fully offline with no sign-in. The optional Social tab uses Sign in with Apple to let you share your collection and follow friends — but it's entirely opt-in.
How does the Social tab work?
Sign in with Apple to join. Your recipe library is published to a secure feed that only your approved followers can see. Follow requests require your approval — you're always in control of who sees your recipes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile.
Can I import recipes from any website?
Yes. Roux supports any site with standard Schema.org recipe markup (JSON-LD), covering most popular sites — Serious Eats, NYT Cooking, BBC Good Food, and hundreds more. A regex fallback handles sites without structured data. You can also batch-import from Recipe Keeper ZIP exports.
Can I convert cups to grams?
Yes. Tap any ingredient to toggle between volume (cups, tbsp, tsp) and weight (grams, oz, lb). Over 60 common ingredients have built-in density data for accurate conversion. tsp and tbsp are intentionally never converted — they're universal kitchen units.
Does Roux work offline?
Yes. AI enrichment, Cook Mode, unit conversion, and recipe browsing all work fully offline. The USDA FDC API is only used as a fallback for unknown ingredients.
What iPhone do I need?
Roux requires iOS 26 or later. AI enrichment features require Apple Intelligence, available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer with Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings.

Made by a home cook, for home cooks.

Roux is an indie iOS app built and maintained by Pharis. After years of jumping between recipe apps that required subscriptions, pushed recipes to the cloud, or lost fidelity on import — Roux was built to be the opposite: one fair price, everything on your device, nothing left behind.
